REIMAGINING THE FLUTE AND FILM: FROM THE RIVER TO THE OCEAN
A Special Live Music and Cinema Event with Rozalind MacPhail

Canada’s award-winning musician and filmmaker, Rozalind MacPhail takes us on an inspiring journey where live music, cinema and storytelling weave together a tapestry of memory, place and identity. Rozalind’s original live music score combines multi-layered sound looping, traditional songwriting, field recordings and loads of effected flute, MacPhail’s specialty. She will be performing original music to selected short films from her award-winning audio-visual projects, FROM THE RIVER TO THE OCEAN and HEAD FIRST. There will be a Q&A with Rozalind MacPhail after the performance. Rozalind’s attendance is generously sponsored by Gemeinhardt Musical Instruments and Long & McQuade.

ABOUT ROZALIND MACPHAIL

“It‘s easy to fall for the eclectic sounds of this creative mastermind, and you will probably get lost in your imagination while falling.“ (Rock Eden Magazine) Innovative Gemeinhardt Artist and Clinician, Rozalind MacPhail recently took home an East Coast Music Award for Electronic Recording of the Year and MusicNL’s Female Artist of the Year. One of the world’s leaders in flute looping and live film scoring, this classically-trained flutist blends effected flute, electronics, voice, omnichord, field recordings and silent film using the music software, Ableton Live. MacPhail creates music for film and live performance and has released several albums of original work. She explores new ways to combine image and sound, in works that speak honestly of place, person and the human experience. Visit:www.rozalindmacphail.com
